Semester 01 2008 - 2009 September - January

Project update

  • You have one last opportunity to modify and update your project after you have prepared for your presentation
  • Please upload a copy of your power point presentation after your in school presentation and provide a link to it on your page

Titration lab

The three questions to be answered:
  1. Calculate the molarity of the NaOH soultion
  2. Determine the mass of sodium hydroxide present in 1 liter (Mass/Liter)
  3. If the theoretical yield of NaOH is 3.5 grams what is the % error/accuracy of the experiment.

Unit 3 Test

  • December 16 Tuesday
  • Review your text and prepare for the multiple choice questions
  • Solve all problems on molarity, mass fraction, mass percent, mole fraction,
  • Solve problems on titration and dilution
  • Net ionic equation and total ionic equation
  • solubility rules and problems on separation of ions (use spectator ions and net ionic equations)
  • Acid Base theories, Arrhenius theory, Bronsted-Lowry theory and Lewis theory
  • pH from molarity, predicting pH of mixtures of acids and bases after neutralisation based on excess and limited reagents
  • Power point link

Comments and Suggestions

  • Check for suggestions given in your projects using this BLUE COLOR
  • This page is in the process of being set up for MGCI Chemistry and Science Students:

Chem Homework

Suggestions

  • Make a new page called "Project" and add the heading "Draft" for now, post the following or similar headings (check discussion)

  • Introduction
  • Materials
  • etc.
  • etc.

  • Then add information as it becomes available.
  • Once you have completed formatting and editing your final draft text remove the heading "Draft" change it to completed project. Send an email to me and we will lock the document. The document will not be available for editing then.

How to make a new page

  • Type the word "Project" on the page you want to make a link
  • Highlight the word "Project" and on the text editor tool bar hit the link button
  • A pop up page will appear, you can change the name in the "Link" menu if you want to.
  • Hit OK and your new page is all set to go.
  • Save the page and when you click on the link Project it will take you to a new page and you can start editing your project page.

Current projects in chemistry:

  • SCH3U3 students may want to go to the projects and group members links to know your topics.

  • If any group of students wish to choose a different topic that is not included in the list, you should do the research and write a synopsis of the project and submit a written copy for approval.

  • Once you have identified your group and topic you can click on the link and start working on your project by adding information on to the page as and when it becomes available. i.e after researching the topic.

  • To edit a page, that is add information or change information already added click on the edit this page. Once your are done hit save.
